This next recipe is extremely simple and will knock your socks off! Caramel sauce made from only dates and water, how can that possibly taste good may you ask. My non-date loving friends can attest to this sauce's deliciousness. We created this recipe when making our Healthy Chocolate Torte as well as our Healthy Apple Crisp. it adds just the perfect amount of sweetness and caramel goodness. Give it a try! We're sure you wont be disappointed!!
Remove the dates from the water (preserving the water) and transfer to a blender. Add in one cup of the preserved date liquid as well as a quarter to half a teaspoon of sea salt.
Blend until smooth and voilà! You have yourself a quick, easy, and healthy caramel sauce. We prefer to serve it warm but it still tastes delicious when cold. If you want a thinner sauce, you can always blend with little extra water.
Salted Caramel Date Sauce
1 cup pitted dates
1 cup date liquid (you can add more water for a thinner sauce)
1/4-1/2 tsp sea salt
- Soak dates in a few cups of water for 1-2 hours or overnight.
- Remove dates from water (preserving water) and transfer to a blender.
- Add in one cup of the preserved date liquid and sea salt.
- Blend until smooth.
- Can be served hot or cold.
